Brighton Marathon 2011
Children on the Edge were delighted to take part in the first ever Brighton marathon this year and are now accepting entrants for the Brighton Marathon 2011.
As a Chichester based charity, we are privileged to be involved in this fantastic local event that attracts thousands of runners.
We had five runners taking part in the marathon this year who collectively raised over £4,000. Massive thanks goes to Helen Pattinson, Keith Jamieson, David Dorning, Helen Burgon and Amy Gander for their true commitment and dedication.
David was the first home in 3hrs 9min, closely followed by Helen Pattinson in 3hrs 40min. After only one practice run, Keith still managed to complete the marathon with a little help from his son Jack, who joined his father for the last 200 metres and then crossed the line by his side.
It costs just £89 to educate a child from Burma living in Thailand for a year. Therefore a collective donation of over £4,000 to Children on the Edge really can make a huge difference.
It is through the involvement of people such as this year’s marathon runners that Children on the Edge is able to help develop projects to give hope, life, colour and fun to children in some of the darkest corners of the globe.
You too can be involved.
Brighton Marathon 2011 promises to be even bigger and better. If you are interested in running for Children on the Edge in the Brighton Marathon 2011 on Sunday 10th April please contact Celena Young.
And so the training begins…
