Beeston Hike

Beaver Scouts from 1st Sandstone Scout Group raised over £1000 for Children on the Edge by hiking 6 miles along the Sandstone Trail in Cheshire.  In perfect hiking weather, 16 Beavers aged between 6 and 8 completed the hike in 4 hours, stopping off along the way to explore the caves at Rawhead and Droppingstone Well.

Beaver Scout Leader, David Lithgow Smith, organised the hike to raise money and awareness for Children on the Edge in his local area.  David showed his Beaver group a DVD which explained why Children on the Edge work in Burma and the surrounding countries.  The Beavers were then each given sponsorship forms which is how they managed to raise so much.

Children on the Edge are delighted that the Sandstone Beavers managed to raise so much through their organised hike which will go towards many children who are of similar age to the Beavers.  It costs £12 a year to support a Burmese child at one of our community based education projects in Bangladesh. This sponsored walk alone will help some of the most vulnerable and marginalised children in the world.
