TAKING EDUCATION TO WHERE THE CHILDREN ARE...

An introduction to Cluster Learning in Uganda

By the time a child reaches five years old, 90% of their brain has developed; making early years experiences the most important of their lives.

Throughout refugee communities in Kyaka II, Uganda, 15,000 Congolese children are cut off from early years support. They face irreversible damage, but simple learning and connection can give them the healthy foundations they need for the future.
The 30 learning centres we support here are already packed full, so we're introducing a brand new way of learning at the heart of each community. Under trees, in homes and communal spaces, thousands more children will access weekly groups where trained teachers spark learning and parents are supported to inspire daily progress at home.

Fresh from winning this year’s Theirworld Education Innovation Award for this pilot programme, we are pleased to invite you to a virtual evening to find out more about this exciting new Cluster Learning model that is opening up early years education and support to thousands of refugee children.

We’ll be chatting on zoom with a panel of individuals, from those who dreamed it up and developed the idea, and those that are making it a reality right now in Uganda. Towards the end there will also be an opportunity to ask your own questions. Please join us for some compelling conversation, from the comfort of your own home.

Image shows a group of seven young Congolese refugee children sat on a green and purple mat outside a building wall. The children have name badges round their necks and are sat in a semi circle looking up an adult who is standing up on the mat. Only their bare feet and legs are visible. The children are concentrating on what the adult is doing.
