Jesmin is a Project Officer for Mukti Cox's Bazar, our partner organisation in Bangladesh, where we provide education to 7,500 Rohingya refugees in Kutupalong, the world's largest refugee camp.
Jesmin talks to us about her work, why she made a drastic career change and what she loves about her job. ![]() Children on the Edge works with slum communities in the suburbs of Jinja, Uganda, where children are at risk of abuse, trafficking, neglect and in extreme cases, child sacrifice. Our work has been so transformative that we are expanding into new communities in Uganda to tackle child rights abuses and ensure more children are better protected and able to thrive.
Here’s an update from one new community, Mafubira where a new Child Protection Team has been set up. Children on the Edge are working to ensure Early Childhood Development provision for the youngest Congolese refugee children in Uganda, that is genuinely community-led, and therefore inherently sustainable. The World’s Forgotten Conflict in Kachin State, Myanmar is forcing hundreds of thousands of displaced Kachin people to live in remote mountain camps, cut off from basic services and support. Compounded by Covid-19 and a military coup in Myanmar; the situation for the people of Kachin State is getting worse. Read more about the current situation and what we’re doing to help.
Nural Islam, is a seven year old student at one of the community schools we support in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. We’ve been chatting to him throughout 2021 so far, to get his thoughts and feelings about the schools and life in lockdown.
