Shari Bawk Awng Mu Hpa is 4 years old and attends junior class at Pa Jau preschool centre. He has one younger brother. His father is a soldier with the Kachin Independence Army, (KIA) and spends a lot of time away, so Shari Bawk Awng Mu Hpa is mainly cared for by his mother. The household doesn’t have much income, and with his dad away the boys don’t get much attention, but nevertheless, Shari Bawk Awng Mu Hpa has become a very cheerful child. He wasn’t always this way, and when he first started coming along to the centre, he didn’t get along too well with the other children and wasn’t keen on sharing toys. After being part of classes, receiving nurturing care and benefiting from all the activities and class routines, he began to change. His teachers told us her now says his prayers before naptime, gladly eats his snack, understands how to act in a positive way and has actually started to like the idea of sharing! He has become more patient and really enjoys playing with the other children. Support us
