Every week 700 refugees arrive into Kyaka II, Uganda from the Democratic Republic of Congo. 65% are children.
The first six years in a child’s life are critical for healthy development, and without quality pre-primary education in Kyaka II the youngest children are missing out on this vital window to learn and grow.
We will train local refugee teachers; equipping them to create fun and colourful resources from local affordable materials.
Hundreds of young children under seven, fleeing horrific violence and Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo will learn, play, and recover from trauma in safe, colourful nursery schools. High-quality teaching will give them the key foundational skills they need to be successful throughout their education and in life.
