UKRAINE RESPONSE

Iryna fled Ukraine with her daughter and parents, finally reaching safety in Romania. A year on, refugee families still need our help.

We’re supporting families like Iryna’s with essential food supplies and a safe space where they can build community, gather for activities, take language classes, and learn online.

Please donate today and support Ukrainian refugee families.

WHAT WE ARE DOING TO HELP

We provide essential accommodation, food and hygiene kits.

Recognising that refugee families need far more than just the basic necessities, we also provide a vibrant community hub in Romania. Children and families have a chance to gather, learn the Romanian language, and take part in yoga, chess, crafts, singing, dancing. Children can use the space to gather together and access their online schooling.

In Romania we support young children without parental care, whose group home was bombed in Ukraine. With nutritious food, play therapy and support from a social worker and psychologist, children are slowly beginning to feel safe and secure.

We work with skilled local partners, experienced in supporting children and refugees, always supporting those who are most on the edge.

WHERE WILL YOUR MONEY BE SPENT?

In the initial stages of the crisis, most refugees transited through Moldova and Romania and our services focused on supporting refugees for a short period before they moved on. However, many Ukrainian refugees are now settling in Romania and Moldova as the conflict in Ukraine continues.

We are working with our partner organisations to support these refugees and ensure they have the long term support they need to recover from the trauma of fleeing their homes and adjust to life in their host countries.

As the situation evolves, we will continue to meet the needs identified by our partners; always supporting those who are most on the edge.

ARE YOU COLLECTING DONATIONS OF ITEMS?

We are not collecting donations of clothes, blankets, medical supplies and so on for Ukrainian refugees. The approach we take in all our projects around the world is to partner with local organisations, so the most cost effective and sustainable way to provide what is needed is to source materials within each country where we work.

We believe that donating money to trusted organisations, like us, who have experience of working with refugees in crisis situations, is the best way to support Ukrainian refugees. Financial donations enable charities and organisations to react quickly and spend money where the need is greatest.

You can find out more about our advice on providing financial support instead of ‘stuff’ by reading our blog post here.

CAN YOUR BUSINESS SUPPORT US?
