As the war in Ukraine continues to shock the world, and more and more Ukrainians are fleeing the country for safety, what is happening on the ground in Romania and Moldova as thousands of refugees arrive? What are Children on the Edge doing to help?
Plummeting temperatures in Lebanon throughout January and February created freezing conditions for Syrian refugee families surviving in canvas shelters at a time when fuel is completely unaffordable. They have been in desperate need of help to heat their homes.
Thanks to an appeal this winter, our supporters have helped provide fuel vouchers for 319 families, so they can stay warm. The crisis in Ukraine has shocked the world, and as with other conflicts and crises, people are desperate to help. But what is the best way to support the people affected and respond to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Europe?
Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have been fleeing the Russian invasion in their country and crossing the borders into Romania and Moldova where our local partner organisations are providing food, clothing, shelter and support. With more refugees expected, they need urgent funds to help support more families.
Please donate to our appeal and support Ukrainian refugee families. Grade 9 Students in Lebanon Helping Their Communities by Upcycling Clothes and Fixing Tents14/2/2022
Students in Lebanon have been working hard over the past few months to find creative ways to support their local communities; using their new carpentry and sewing skills to repair and upcycle tents and clothing for refugee families in need. We have been blown away by their efforts....
Despite the ongoing political and economic crisis in Lebanon, the school we support in Zahle continues to provide a safe haven for Syrian refugee students. The children are not only learning, they are thriving. Mahmoud, in Grade 9 loves attending school and is excelling in class, especially now he can actually read the board thanks to a new pair of glasses.
Every year, our partners in Kachin State, Myanmar provide the children who attend our Early Childhood Development centres with a new set of warm clothes to help them stay warm during the winter months. The children received their parcels in December 2021 and were absolutely delighted with their new clothes. The children were even happier to return to their preschools to show off their new clothes in January after many months of closures.
Thank you so much for your donations throughout the year that help to make this all happen. Digital lessons in Bangladesh have resumed for thousands of the children that we support through 29 community schools and 75 camp learning centres. Find out how they are making learning exciting and helping the children to flourish once more.
The Body Shop At Home and Children on the Edge: Kickstarting A Year of Learning for Refugee Children24/1/2022
The Body Shop At Home has been a passionate supporter of Children on the Edge for over two decades and earlier this month; we gathered with them online at the Global Kickstart Conference with the theme ‘The Power of Us’.
We were honoured to be able to share with thousands of The Body Shop At Home consultants, more about our work with refugee children. We talked about why providing education to the youngest children who have fled conflict and violence can transform lives and create powerful change. We also shared how in 2022 we want to kickstart a year of learning for refugee children; with the support of The Body Shop At Home. Meet Joseph, whose hope and determination has ensured that the children in his community have a safe place to come and learn.
The school he founded in Kyaka II settlement in Uganda has recently benefited from a complete rebuild as part of our programme in Kyaka II and is now a bright, safe space where children can come to learn and play. |
