The Children on the Edge team at The Body Shop in Chichester
Children on the Edge is delighted to be partnering with The Body Shop this festive season. Every time you buy a gift from The Body Shop, (in-store, online or from your local Body Shop at Home consultants) you’ll be creating brighter futures for refugee children around the globe. This Christmas The Body Shop will be donating to Children on the Edge from the sale of every pre-filled gift, hoping to raise up to £100,000. This support will help to fund over 195,000 days of education for refugee children across Uganda, Bangladesh and Lebanon.
A shared history

Together with our CEO Rachel Bentley, the late Dame Anita Roddick sparked the beginnings of Children on the Edge in 1990, in response to the Romanian orphanage crisis. Over 30 years later, we have worked in more than 18 countries, and currently support over 20,000 of the most marginalised children, in some of the toughest situations worldwide.

Funding 195,000 days of Education

Every child has the right to an education, but refugee children often don’t have any schools to go to. 68% of primary age refugee children can’t access education (UNHCR). Even when refugee children do go to school, it’s hard for them to learn. Classrooms are often crowded and lessons are not always taught in their own languages. They can also experience discrimination and harsh treatment from teachers and other students.

Children fleeing conflict and persecution need a place where they can feel safe and cared for. They need more than just the ability to survive, they need protective spaces where they can thrive. In our colourful classrooms, refugee children in Bangladesh, Lebanon and Uganda, children can learn, play and discover how to be children again.

Support through The Body Shop’s ‘Give A Little Wonder’ campaign this Christmas will help fund 195,000 days of education, to build brighter futures for refugee children.

Building Brighter Futures for children like Mohammed

Mohammed reading
“Now my friends can see how much I am learning, they all want to come to school as well” - Mohammed

When Mohammed fled his village in Myanmar during the Rohingya genocide, he thought he would never progress in his education in the Kutupalong camp in Bangladesh. Now he
is learning and thriving, with digital lessons and the development of skills for daily life.

When you purchase a gift from The Body Shop this Christmas, you are helping children like Mohammed to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.

“Your support this Christmas will be changing the future for young refugees. It will create opportunities for children to not only learn in their own language, but also help them to tell their own stories; through play, creative lessons and their own video blogs. You’re helping to create hope, and to give children a safe space where they can thrive."
