Rachel Bentley, CEO and Co-founder of Children on the Edge, travelled to Windsor Castle on Tuesday 7th March to receive her OBE award from the Prince of Wales, and talked with him about the work of Children on the Edge. Rachel was awarded the OBE as part of the Queen’s birthday honours in June 2022, for services to the protection and education of marginalised children worldwide. Her appointment as an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) is in recognition of over thirty years of work with some of the world’s most overlooked children, and was awarded as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Together with the late Dame Anita Roddick, Bentley co-founded Children on the Edge in response to the Romanian orphanage crisis in 1990. Through her leadership of the Chichester-based charity, to this day, she has dedicated herself to children on the margins, those who often go unnoticed and are overlooked.
